NOTES ON A SUNDAY

Happy Sunday guys- this weekend flew by! I had a great, and cold time, Friday night going to see the tree lighting with C, and finally saw the Beyond Lights last night with a friend! Anyway, I was thinking of what to write for this weeks #NotesOnaSunday and kept putting it off and putting it off and realized in that, that I found what to write about. I have long struggled with procrastination and putting things off until the literal last second. Whether it was homework in college, buying flight tickets, finishing home projects-basically everything, until recently. I figured out that there are certain things that I don’t and never have procrastinated, like planning my blog for instance, shopping for an outfit for an event, planning dates for my boyfriend and I, and assignments at work.

That kinda made me think, why do I procrastinate so badly on some things and not on others? I still don’t know the exact answer, but this quote has been helping me procrastinate less and I thought I should share it with you guys! I feel like looking back and saying I shoulda/coulda done something that was completely do-able, and was only stopped by procrastination, is the worst and I never wanna do that. Using that as my motivation and even taking it down from a year to a week has brought things into great perspective and helped so much! Don’t get me wrong a lot of my procrastination stems from laziness and simply not feeling like it, which I still struggle with, but giving whatever the activity is a bit of context is beneficial on several levels. I sometimes even find myself saying “Let me go do this now because next week I’ll be so behind” or some version of that!

This quote, that could maybe even be called a mindset, can be great for long term goals too! I take it to heart in certain aspects of life like my career and my blog. Day to day stuff makes us put off those long term aspirations for “someday” or “at some point”, but getting started little by little can make such a huge difference. And though I’m definitely still learning, I think I’m getting better at handling day-to day things and making taking steps toward my long-term goals a priority. Partly due to this quote replaying in the back of my head ha!

What do you guys do to combat procrastination? If you have any tips or think this quote may help you too, let me know in the comments below! And if you’re not already follow me over on Twitter @ChicAndDefined!
